One of the very few disappointments of an otherwise uniformly positive 2008 season was that Dragons fans saw next to nothing of Cyrille Gossard, whose season was ended prematurely after just four rounds due to a serious knee injury. It is doubly a shame for anyone who saw Gossard excel during a 2007 campaign where he came from virtually nowhere to, in Mick Potter's words, 'one of the first names on the teamsheet'. A consummate professional and second-rower of seemingly endless energy, his tackling skills and work rate were missed in 2008 and hopefully have not been diminished by his long spell on the treatment table.
