An Australian import of impressive pedigree, Dane Carlaw is a former Queensland origin and Australia international and a utility forward with 181 first-grade NRL games under his belt with Brisbane Broncos. Although he did not catch the eye in the manner of some of his team-mates during 2008, few can doubt he has been a successful signing. He provides options in both the front and second row, and provides plenty of oomph in either role (not for nothing is he nicknamed 'Tarzan'). With Jason Ryles joining the club in 2009, we could well see him step up a gear in the coming season.
