In a 2008 season where many Dragons players got the plaudits they so richly deserved (Greenshields, Bosc, Raguin) Greg Mounis somehow missed out – though that could be something to do with the BBC's journos thinking he is Australian and therefore undeserving of praise.
In reality, Mounis bounced back from a rather underwhelming 2007 season with a 2008 campaign of consistently high quality. He was the side's top tackler last season with 701 and over three seasons in the Dragons colours he has epitomised the image of the hard-working back-rower. An important figure both for club and country, it is also worth reminding ourselves that he is still a comparatively young man at 24 despite racking up close to a century of Dragons matches. Hopefully 2009 will see Mounis get his moment in the spotlight.
