The evergreen back-rower from New South Wales surprised many by performing something of a volte-face and inking a new one year deal in 2008 when he had initially indicated he was due to retire. Not that he will look out of place in 2009. Despite turning 36 in March, Croker is a supremely fit athlete, a veteran of over 300 NRL games with Canberra and a World Cup winner to boot.
His experience and competitive nature have proved invaluable in a back-row that might have lacked both had he not signed. Despite a solid 2008 season, Croker is still perhaps best remembered by the sang-et-or.net team for his outrageous drop-goal at Odsal in 2007, the scene of one of their most famous victories.
